The Hives

Once a week I suit up and check on my honeybees.

They continuously amaze me.

They all have a part in keeping the hive alive. Helping each other for the greater good of the colony.

Thriving after a layoff is not a solo act, we work better together. Iā€™m reminded of that every day when I go and check on my girls.

Ever seen a hive with a "beard"? šŸ§”šŸ This is bearding — when honey bees cluster outside the hive on hot days instead of staying inside. It's not swarming, and it's not a problem. The bees are literally chilling (well, cooling down) by moving body heat outside so the hive interior stays at the perfect temp for brood and honey.
